Coming Home to the Earth: An Eco-Mission of Reconciliation

This program will be presented by Fr. Richard Landry, a LaSalette Missionary.  He will be with us for 2 weeks and 3 weekends, guiding us in an awareness program of the beauty of Creation and our need to become more conscious of how we affect the Earth in beneficial and damaging ways. The call to be more ecological responsible is one issued by Pope John Paul himself but hardly known by most Catholics. Fr. Landry hopes not only to enlighten but also to involve us in this critical life issue.

Beginning Next Week

Next Weekend and the following two weekends, Fr. Richard Landry, MS will be here to preach at all Masses and offer the program: Coming Home to the Earth: An Eco-Mission of Reconciliation. Taking to heart recent papal and bishops’ statements on the need for more awareness about environmental issues, Fr. Landry will present the Church’s teachings on ecology and invite us into a deeper awareness and appreciation of the beauty of the Earth and our true place in it. Fr. Landry has also planned weekday sessions for any groups and persons wanting to pursue these issues at a deeper level.

Evenings with Fr. Landry

First Week:  During this first week, Fr. Landry will present two special hour long programs on Tuesday and Thursday at 7:00pm. Tuesday will feature an appreciation of Creation Spirituality and Celtic Spirituality. Both are popular trends in spirituality and lead to clearer understandings of the presence of the Divine in all things. Thursday will feature the Cosmic Walk: this ‘hands on’ session will allow a unique experience of the Creation Story from the beginning to the present day. It will capture your imagination.

Second Week:  During this second week, Fr. Landry will again present on Tuesday and Thursday evenings for the hour long time period. Tuesday will feature a presentation entitled The Universe Story: Our Story and will involve a closer look at the human negative impact on the environment with the help of short video clips of prominent current thinkers. Thursday will feature an audio-visual experience of the importance of water to all life, followed by discussion and concluding with a water ritual. You are asked to bring a small bottle of water.
